BYG hydraulic hammers — the full J series.
Twenty-seven models built at Molins de Rei outside Barcelona, covering carriers from 0.4 tonne up to 140 tonne. Every figure below is from the current BYG implements catalogue — weights, tool diameters, oil flow, blow rate and impact energy, model by model. Rock breakers and hydraulic hammers from a 0.4 tonne mini digger to a 140 tonne mining machine, all under the JOBS name.
The four weight classes
Light — J35 to J100
Ten models, 0.4 to 15 tonne carriers. Mini-digger work, footpaths, secondary breaking, small foundations.
Medium — J125 to J165F
Six models, 15 to 40 tonne. The volume end of demolition and quarry work.
Heavy — J175 to J200
Four models, 36 to 60 tonne. Reinforced concrete, hard rock, primary breaking.
Extra heavy — J205 to J258
Seven models, 55 to 140 tonne. Quarry primary and heavy industrial demolition.
Light range
J35 to J100 — 0.4 to 15 tonne.
The small end, and the range most contractors here buy first. Every model in this band runs an inward valve and no accumulator, which keeps the plumbing simple and the maintenance cheap.

Weights are breaker weight; add the tool for service weight (roughly 3 kg on a J35, 30 kg on a J100). Pressures are the catalogue’s kg/cm² figures, which are within 2% of bar. Automatic greasing is available from the J100 up.
Medium range
J125 to J165F — 15 to 40 tonne.
The working middle of the range. Note the F models: the J135F and J165F use an outward valve and sit on a different flow curve to the models either side of them, so do not size by weight alone.

Heavy range
J175 to J200 — 36 to 60 tonne.
From the J185 up the hammer runs an outward valve and a nitrogen accumulator, which is where the impact energy really climbs — a J200 puts out fifteen times the blow of a J100 at less than half the blow rate.

Build
What is inside a BYG hammer.
Two valve architectures across the range, and the one you get is decided by model rather than by size — worth knowing before you order seals.
One casing, two architectures
Every J-series hammer is a through-bolted box: front head, frame, cylinder, piston, control valve and back head. The lighter models run an inward valve and no accumulator. From the J185 up the valve moves outward and a nitrogen accumulator sits on top, which is what lifts impact energy from a few thousand joules to sixty-seven thousand.
Inward valve, no accumulator
J35 to J125, plus the J140A, J155, J165F and J175. Simpler build, fewer wear items, cheaper to keep going.
Outward valve with accumulator
J135F, J150, and everything from the J185 up. Nitrogen accumulator stores energy between blows — that is where the big impact figures come from.
ABF anti-blank-fire
Stops the hammer firing into fresh air when the tool breaks through. Cuts vibration into the carrier, cuts wear on the through bolts and front head, and saves you a rebuild.
Automatic greasing
Available from the J100 up. Metered grease, continuously — no stopping to hand-grease and no hammer running dry because someone forgot.
Underwater kit
Any model can be kitted for underwater work. Compressed air is fed through an integrated port to keep water out of the percussion chamber.

Conical point
General purpose, and what most hammers leave here with. Best in hard rock and mass concrete.
Pyramid
Concrete work. Spreads the blow rather than punching a hole straight through.
Blunt
Hard rock and boulder busting. No point to snap off.
Trenching chisel
Narrow, for cutting a line rather than breaking a hole.
Wide chisel
Asphalt and slabs — lifts a strip in one pass.
Pile driver tool
Turns the hammer into a driver for posts and sheet piles.
We stock and supply tools for every model, and we can re-point and re-harden a worn tool rather than sell you a new one where it is worth doing.

Charging kit
Nitrogen charging kit for the accumulator and back head. If you run a hammer with an accumulator, you want one on the van.
Base plate
Mounting plate made up to your carrier or quick-hitch. We make these up here.
Spare tools
Two spare tools ordered with the hammer — the second one is what keeps you working when the first one is away being re-pointed.
Tool box
Chisel retaining pins, bushings and the bits that go missing on site.
Extreme-temperature kits are available for heat and cold, and for dusty environments the compressed-air port fitted to every model keeps the percussion chamber clear.
