What is a rock breaker?
A rock breaker is a hydraulic attachment that mounts on an excavator and breaks rock, concrete and hard ground. Depending on who you ask it is also called a hydraulic breaker, a hydraulic hammer, a rock hammer, a concrete breaker, or simply a hammer — and on a lot of Irish sites, a pecker. They are all the same machine.
How do I know what size breaker suits my machine?
Breaker size is matched to the carrier weight and the machine’s hydraulic flow and pressure, not to the job. Tell us the make, model and operating weight of the excavator and we will tell you which models fit. Putting too big a breaker on a small machine damages both.
What comes with a new rock breaker?
Every new breaker is supplied with the tools to suit it, hoses with quick-release couplings for your machine, and a headstock made to fit. Lead time is three to five working days from order.
Do you repair breakers you did not supply?
Yes. We service and rebuild hydraulic hammers of any make. We hold spares in house for the brands we sell, so those turn round fastest; other makes depend on how quickly the parts supplier moves.
What does it cost to find out what is wrong with a breaker?
We will give you a probable cost for free from seeing or hearing about the machine. For a definite condition report and a firm rebuild price, there is a standard £100 charge to strip and assess it.
Can you supply parts for a breaker that is no longer made?
Often, yes. We 3D scan worn or obsolete parts in house and have them manufactured, which covers machines whose makers have gone or dropped support. Send us a photo of the part and the breaker’s data plate.
Where do you supply to?
We are based at Dennison Industrial Estate in Ballyclare, County Antrim, and supply across Northern Ireland including Belfast, Antrim, Ballymena, Larne, Lisburn and Newtownabbey, throughout the Republic of Ireland, and into mainland UK.
Do you hire breakers out?
No. We sell new and rebuilt attachments and we service them. We do not run a hire fleet and we do not supply loan units while yours is being repaired, which is why we keep spares on the shelf and turn repairs round quickly.
